Announcing National Heritage Week 2023

The Heritage Council is delighted to invite you to explore your Living Heritage during National Heritage Week 2023.

National Heritage Week 2023 was launched at the home and workshop of Tom McDonnell. Along with James Collins, he is one of the last Traveller tinsmiths still at work. Here Tom and James demonstrate their craft and how they learnt these traditional skills and crafts.

The theme of National Heritage Week 2023 is Living Heritage; exploring the traditional crafts, skills and practises passed down through generations.

National Heritage Week 2023 takes place from 12th-20th August 2023. Events will be taking place in every county. From guided walks, to tours, to craft demonstrations to open days, there is something for everyone.
