Описание к видео Rithika performs Charukesi Varnam | Bhakti Natya Niketan| Bharatanatyam

Watch snippets of the Arangetram performance of a talented young dancer, Rithika G.M. of Bhakti Natya Niketan, Coimbatore.

This varnam is a choreography of Sri. Sheejith Krishna. It is complex and rich in imagery and also makes space for the individual dancer to set on her own journey of discovery. At BNN, we attempt not to batch process the protagonists in a piece but help the dancer define who she is, who her Lord is and what she shares with her Lord. Rithika here plays a very deep and meditative Nayika, who yearns for Krishna as a completion of her own self. The Nayika is not bothered by the several accusing tales of the Gopikas in Brindavan . Innam En Manam, Ragam Charukeshi, Talam Adi , Music Composer: Late. Lalgudi G jayaraman, Choreography Sheejith Krishna.

About Rithika (Age16 in 2019):
Rithika has trained with Bhakti Natya Niketan under the guidance of Karuna Sagari for the last 10 years. Her prodigal talent and untiring hardwork has consistently earned her a scholarship from the institute for her dance education with the help of several well-wishers. She is the daughter of Malarveni, a single mother who works as a primary school teacher at a city school. Growing up in an environment with limited means, she has shown perseverance and quiet dignity in her pursuit of Bharatanatyam. Her artistry redefines the idea of parampara, traditionally understood as lineage to reflect BNN's understanding of the term - the perfect blend of talent, training and exposure.

Founded by Karuna Sagari in June 2008, Bhakti Natya Niketan (BNN) is an institution which teaches Bharatanatyam based on the Kalakshetra bani and adopting its own organic pedagogy. Students learn dance organically, the way a child acquires his/her mother tongue. Over the last decade, BNN’s focus has been on three major facets: the organic pedagogy, performances, and outreach.
BNN draws inspiration from the arasa maram (peepul tree or the bodhi tree). When a breeze ripples through the arasa maram, each leaf dances individually though nurtured by the same root. Likewise, BNN aspires for each of its students to retain their individuality, fostered and nurtured by the parent institution.
