Here is one version of a simple ritual I used in my classrooms to mark the beginning and end of meals or snacks. I like to begin by lighting a candle--there is something magical and wonderful about candlelight.
Here is the verse I used for that:

Fire fairies come to us,
Make it shine so bright for us,
Flames of red and golden.

Please always pay attention when you have lit candles around little ones--and put the matches or lighter out of reach when you are done with it!

And while we can no longer hold hands around the table at school, you can still do it at home! Here is my verse for gathering and holding hands:

Give every hand a hand to hold,
Let us form a ring of gold.

And then we say a blessing. In the classroom, I always use earth-based blessings, but, of course, you can use any blessing from any tradition that pleases you!
This is one of my favorites (and the one I sing in this video)

For the golden corn and the apples on the trees
For the golden butter and the honey from the bees.
Fruits and nuts and berries we gather on our way
And we praise our loving Mother Earth
and thank her every day.
Hey!

And then say:
Blessings on our good snack ( or lunch or dinner or whatever)

Then at the end of the meal, put out the candle and you can say the following:
Candle, candle shining bright,
Thank you for your radiant light.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope this inspires you to bring more joy to your table. When I taught my Parent-Child classes, many parents told me that after coming to class for a few weeks, their little ones insisted on lighted a candle before they ate at home. It's a lovely way to pause and appreciate being together.

Thanks for stopping by!
