Quest For Peace
The two warring factions in the lango cultural institution have finally agreed to come together under one roof to pave way for a lasting peace. The cultural institution has been having two parallel leadership factions the gazette Lango Cultural foundation headed by Mzee Yosam Odur and Te-kwaro Lango led by former executive director Uganda Road fund Moses Micheal O dongo Okune.
The clan leaders held a joint council meeting and agreed to work together to pave way for a free and fair election of the his higness the paramount chief.

The leadership wrangle in the lango cultural institution has taken a different twist with the two factions finally agreeing to work together. For close to a decade, Lango has been having two parallel cultural leadership factions the gazette Lango Cultural foundation headed by Mzee Yosam Odur and Te-kwaro Lango led by former executive director Uganda Road fund Moses Micheal Odongo Okune.

On Tuesday, clan leaders from both factions converged for a joint council meeting in which both factions committed to a reconciliatory process.
The meeting followed an extraordinary peace seeking meetings organized in one of the hotels in Lira.

George Ojwang Opota the prime Minister Te-kwaro lango who represented the Moses Micheal Odongo Okune welcomed the move and expressed commitment to the peace building process which has commenced.

Last month his higness Mzee Yosam Odur Ebi decalred his intention to relinquish power due to old age and handover to a new leader.

A seven-member commission was institute to organize a free and fair election for the new paramount chief.
In the lango tradition, a paramount chief is elected from the clan chiefs and by the clan chiefs. Those who qualify should be between 55-75 years and will serve for 20years for another person to be elected. EnD
