The next course is the Crimson Crater, the site of Eggman's Crimson Tower. Eggman's robots went berserk, and he intends to put them backin his servitude (as well as all non-Eggman robots) through the Crimson Tower. He also reveals that his robots went crazy on purpose so that he would come here to put them back under his control, which, as far as evil plans go, sounds more Doofenschmirtz than Xanatos...to say the least.

Still, at least the Crimson Crater lends itself to a pretty cool course, and if you ask me, the toughest in the game. Its vertical layout lends itself to some pretty crazy gravity defiance, with much of the track going up the tower and coming back down. One thing that's introduced here that you'll see repeatedly later is the jump that segues into a wall you must ride up. There are so many of them here that you can't really miss it. Crimson Crater is also filled with very sharp hairpin turns completely unguarded on the outside...bad news for anyone or anything that has a tough time with Gravity Control, such as Wheels and Super Sonic.

At last, Jet the Hawk makes his appearance. He's the leader of the Babylon Rogues, and, having been scared off good from losing to Sonic in the previous game or something of that sort, stopped constantly thrusting himself into the fray and now spends most of his time complaining to Wave and Storm from his office. In both games, he's loud, arrogant, hypercompetitive, and easily enraged. Why the others put up with him is anyone's guess.

Crimson Crater, due to its very heavy reliance on Gravity Control, lends itself well to any board whose gimmick revolves around Gravity Control. The G Shot, naturally, is one of them. Its Gear Changes are as follows:
50 Rings: Grind
70 Rings: GP Gauge UP
It's a board that can also grind! Of course, that's not the appeal to it: Each object destroyed using Gravity Control while riding the G Shot will add 5 Gravity Points to the gauge, which you can see when "+5 GP" repeatedly pops up on the right of the screen afer each of those hairpin turns. Naturally, this means the G Shot won't reach its full potential in some courses that don't need a lot of Gravity Control, such as Megalo Station and Gigan Rocks.
