Описание к видео Samurai Sword Katana Demonstration in Shoshazan Engyoji of Hyo...

Extremely Rare Video Content: Circa 1999, John McGraugh, Shihan, 5th Dan, Ryuseiken Batto-Do, instructor of "The Sword Guy" and his grandmaster of direct Samurai lineage, Internationally recognized Mitsuhiro Saruto Soke, Ryuseiken Batto-Do were asked to perform Tameshigiri (試し斬り, 試し切り, 試斬, 試切) test target cutting Battodo sword performance in the sacred temple of Shoshazan Engyoji (書寫山圓教寺) in Hyogo Prefecture (兵庫県), the site that Miyamoto Musashi (the most famous swordsman ever, 宮本 武蔵, 1584-1645) used to practice on these same hallowed grounds. A deeply moving experience to be there, on the spot where it all started. You might remember it from the epic scenes in the Hollywood blockbuster film "The Last Samurai" featuring Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe. It is generally know, that Shihan John McGraugh was the first Westerner to perform at Engyō-ji (this temple is only open to the public once a year). This particular katana demonstration is an example of what you can expect at this year's U.S. Batto-Do Open Championship coming in October 21-23, 2017 to Tucson, Arizona. Yes, Private Lessons are available with Saruta Sensei (Limited Availability).
