TRANSILVANIA - Ohaba village, belonging to Sinca village (Brasov County) is located at the foot of Fagaras Mountains, 20 km from the town of Fagaras. The mill in Ohaba is the oldest traditional mill in the Land of Fagaras and still works. Near the mill is a small boarding house arranged in traditional style and bearing the name "Mill with Cheers". The mill was built in 1873. The reason that this mill has not disappeared like many others has an explanation: it was and always remained in family ownership. In the difficult years of collectivization (completed in 1962), their ancestor was declared kulak and pressed, but he did not give up. Even after two years spent in prison, the mill remained in the family property. The mill was included in the Mills European Circuit. Although old and seemingly primitive, the mill is complex. The mill is mainly composed of two stones: one fixed and one mobile. With the "scoop" pour the beans between stones and get the "milling". A sack of grain (wheat or corn) of 40 kg is milled in about three hours and half. This produces an upper flour in terms of quality, which retains the nutrients and the vitamins. Although no food additives are added, it is considered that the flour produced here on keep much better. Mr. Popa, the owner, believes that in recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in people for traditional milling. Also, the tourists, coming from all continents, are drawn by the mill and by the beautiful places here.
