A Forgotten Gem of Lucknow - Sibtainabad Imambara |

Описание к видео A Forgotten Gem of Lucknow - Sibtainabad Imambara |

Lucknow’s Sibtainabad Imambara is a marvel of Awadhi architecture that offers visitors a glimpse into the grandeur of Nawabs of Lucknow.

Rather small and simple in design, its construction began during the reign of Nawab Amjad Ali Shah, in the 1840s. It was completed during the reign of his son and last Nawab of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah.

The Imambara showcases a blend of Mughal and Awadhi architectural styles, and was built as the final resting place of the Nawab.

Its main hall has five beautiful, arched doorways with signature Nawabi stucco work. The doorways also have striking stained glass panels.

Today, Sibtainabad Imambara remains a hidden marvel amid the grunge and chaos of one of Lucknow’s busiest bazaars.
