屋久島の離島で放棄された宮之浦森林鉄道の残骸を発見 Yakushima Island

Описание к видео 屋久島の離島で放棄された宮之浦森林鉄道の残骸を発見 Yakushima Island

After a tiring 600m ridge climb on remote Yakushima Island, we discover remains of the abandoned Miyanoura Forest Railway. Contrary to popular knowledge, there were several different 2'6" (762mm) forest railways operating on Yakushima diring the first half of the 20th Century. Better known is the famous Anbo Forest Railway which remains Japan's last operating narrow gauge hinoki railway. (see my video from out 2019 expedition:    • 安房りんてつ: we ride Japan's last railway ...  )

Given the substantial stonework, this railway must have accessed valuable Cypress & Cedar. Although the iron rails have been removed, square section cypress remain and mostly is excellent condition, given Yakushima Island is the wettest place in Japan.
