Snow melt systems are available to order in both mat and cable format. Our mats allow for quick installation of large areas with a pre-spaced outdoor heating cable attached to a fiberglass grid. The cable version of this system is sold in rolls of varying lengths, ideal for unusually shaped areas or custom spacing layouts.

Both project examples show that asphalt installations with snow melt systems must be done in a two-step pour. A gravel foundation is placed in the areas where asphalt will be poured. The base layer of asphalt goes down next, followed by the snow melt mat or cables. The snow melt system should be installed following the SmartPlan provided during ordering - customized to each project. The last layer will be the top surface of asphalt. Heavy-duty machinery must not be used to prevent damage to the heating cable.

A key difference between the two projects shown is the heating coverage. The full driveway project will melt all the snow and ice on the surface. In comparison, the tire-track coverage project allows for a snow-free path from the garage to the driveway. Tire-track coverage is ideal for longer driveways, helping reduce material and electrical costs while enjoying the benefits of an accessible driveway.
