Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2021 Tesla Model Three, and we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install the Stealth Hitches hitch with tow package. The tow package, the biggest difference between it and the standard rack package is that with the just the receiver tube package, you can only haul bike racks and cargo carriers. So if you don't plan on towing a trailer, you can get that kit. If you ever plan on towing a trailer, which the amount of work you have to go through in order to get this hitch in place, I would definitely recommend spending a little bit extra money, and getting the tow package, 'cause it will come with a ball mount, and the wiring necessary to tow a trailer. The reason why that's so important is because you have to tow a trailer with their ball mount.

You cannot put a ball mount inside the receiver tube. The way that it's engineered it's not designed to have a ball mount installed in it. With this hitch, you're gonna have a 350 pound max tongue weight capacity. That's the capacity put down on the ball. So the amount of tongue weight that you have on your trailer.

You'll also have a gross towing weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. That is the weight of the trailer, plus the load on top of it. Now some measurements, so you know what you guys are getting. From the ground to the top of our ball is gonna be about 17 inches. And now, to show you the height of the receiver tube, we can go through and unlock our ball.

You slide your key up into place into the lock cylinder, unlock it, and stick your hand up there, and turn the knob (metal clangs) to release the ball. Then you can take your receiver tube, and slide it up in there. This is the best part about having a self hitch. When you're not using anything, this is what it's gonna look like. There's no receiver tube sticking out here.

You're not gonna have any worry about if you left an accessory in, or anything like that. Nothing is going to change the look of your Tesla, 'cause they are very nice looking cars, when you don't have an accessory in place. That's probably the number one selling point for these. But to get an accessory in, (metal clangs) slide it up, till it locks into place, and now you have a receiver tube. For bike racks, cargo carriers, any type of hitch accessory, except for a ball mount. From the ground to the top inside of the receiver tube is about 10 inches. So if you get a bike rack or cargo carrier, I would highly recommend getting one that has a rise in the shank, so that you can get a little bit more ground clearance. Usually 12 inches is about that cutoff point that we recommend. A clearance measurement that we typically give is from the hitch pin hole to the outermost side of the bumper. This one is about even with the outside of the bumper. So you shouldn't have any problem with the clearance of any bike racks or cargo carriers. If you watch some of our videos, the people doing the videos will give you those measurements, so that you know to compare 'em to the hitch pin hole on this, to know whether or not it's gonna give you enough clearance. If you get the tow package, it will come with integrated safety chain loops, that you will install with the bracketry. I would recommend getting these S hook style safety chains. They just fit a whole lot better in there. (metal clangs) This other style, the clevis style, is not gonna work as well, because it's much larger. It does fit in there, but they work a lot smoother with the S hooks. We brought the car inside real quick just to show you an example of how to get an accessory out, and then back in. It's a little bit easier to see in here than it is outside, 'cause we're up on the lift. But you'll take your key, slide it in the key hole. You'll get more used to using this system. We don't mess with them a whole lot here, but you put your key in, unlock this cylinder, it'll be in the out position, then you'll turn the knob on the right side till it clicks, (metal clangs) and then your accessory will fall right out. And from this point is where you'll take your accessory, you'll leave this just like this, leave it unlocked, take your keys out, and then when you're ready to install a new accessory, all you have to do is (metal clicks) push it up into place until it firmly locks. Then take your key out, and push that lock, and cover the lock cylinder back up. And you're ready to tow, or haul a bike rack, whichever accessory you're deciding to use. All in all, I think this is gonna be a great hitch
