Nigeria has witnessed three major cholera outbreaks in the past two decades alone. Since 2015, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has had cholera intervention operations every year in different parts of Nigeria.

This year, Nigeria has been fighting the country’s worst cholera outbreak in a decade. Our teams are responding to the most urgent aspects of the outbreak, with the aim to save lives, limit the spread as quickly as possible, and provide access to acute diarrhea treatment services. MSF, along with the Nigerian Ministry of Health, has opened six cholera treatment centers across the region and treated more than 20,000 patients so far. In this video, MSF environmental health supervisor Harouna Amino shows us a look inside one of our treatment centers.
