you know that I have a soul
tam rectam, ut qua jure gaudeam,
which is so righteous that I'm justly delighted of it.

beata Maria,

et jure me maiorem quam
and, that I'm superior than
lascivum vulgus reri audeam.
the lascivous folk, I justly dare to think.

Dic mihi, Maria:
Tell me, Maria:
si saltantem cerno, cur
if I see her dancing, why
ejus oculus me ustilat?
her eye burns me?

Perceptae, conspectae
When I perceive her, when I look at her,
