In this video, we look at the interaction of social and cognitive networks. We investigate how findings from sociolinguistics can be incorporated by cognitive linguistics. Examples we look at include two classic sociolinguistic studies from William Labov (the New York and Martha's Vineyard studies) as well as my work on football/soccer chant constructions.
