as i mentioned earlier, the name and the dish itself is very intriguing. basically the recipe is combination of traditional bonda recipe with traditional spicy moong dal rasam, but has a modern name attached to it. even this dish was very surprising for me when i was introduced. my first encounter of this recipe was in agumbe bus stop while i was traveling from udupi to shimogga. we had stopped for a quick break, i was pleasantly surprised when i heard this name. i did not hesitate to ask the manager about the recipe and he was more than happy to reveal it. i did seek his permission and told him i would be posting it with a video and he was more than happy to be apart of it.

anyway, some easy and critical tips, suggestions and variations for a yummy bonda soup recipe. firstly, the lentil or moong dal soup has to be bit more spicy and also salty as compared to the normal dal recipe. it has to be lip smacking otherwise you may feel it pale when combined with bonda. secondly, the recipe i.e generally served as no onion and no garlic recipe in most of the restaurants. but while assembling and combining the dal to bonda, i have topped it with finely chopped onions. this is optional and can be ignored if you do not wish too. lastly, if you wish to have a moist bonda when served, you can either pre soak it in dal or dip it in water before mixing it. i have skipped both ways and i like the crisp bonda combination.
