The Image: A very rare oddity from 1965 - from one of those very 'iffy' anthology films that were quite popular back then. As an Antonioni 'completist' I tracked down a copy and dutifully watched his segment - the first episode (later recut as a preface apparently to the other two main segments by Mauro Bolognini, and Franco Indovina, - also starring the beautiful, elusive but possibly untalented Iranian princess Soraya (https://theaestheticoftheimageworldci....

Anyway, that plexiglass maze (https://theaestheticoftheimageworldci...) which the interviewer navigates in order to talk to Soyaya might possibly be interpreted as an Antonioni metaphor for, umm, the elusive nature of fame in 60s Europe? (!)
I suppose you could say this anthology was constructed as a vehicle for Soyaya's entrance to the world of fame and film-stardom. It never happened. Now cue all the urban myths about her ex husband (the Shah or Iran no less) and why it was purportedly so difficult to track down a copy of this film after it was released...
