Mercedes-Benz of Littleton's very own Varley walks us through what's involved with a GLC Service A, shares tips and tricks one what you'll need to do, what to look for while servicing your GLC 300, and shares everything you'll need to know on how to service your GLC 300.

While this step-by-step oil change is on a GLC 300, the engine is a longitudinally mounted engine, but it's the same engine as mounted on the C 300, GLA and other luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicles of the same style.

When removing the oil filter on a Mercedes-Ben GLC 300 like this one, Varley used a 27mm socket. All engines of the same size will have the same diameter, but when in doubt refer to your owners manual, and the cap for the torque.

When installing the oil filter on your GLC 300, take note there is a torque spec on the cap of the oil filter cartridge. In this case, with the service A on this GLC, the torque spec is 25 newton meters, shown on the cap as 25 + 5 Nm

when draining the oil on this vehicle, the GLC 300 in this case, start by taking off the oil cap, you can do something similar to what Varley did by upturning the cap, but leaving it in the same position so you don't misplace it.

There are 8 screws that hold on the skid plate that covers over the drain plug on vehicles like the GLC 300, CLA and GLA.

In the case of the transversely mounted engines, you will want to be sure you know where the oil drain plug is, as it's close to the transmission drain plug. Do not mix the drain plugs.

Remove the oil drain plug you'll use a 13mm socket for an oil change on the GLC 300, every time you pull the drain plug you'll want to replace the drain plug seal with a new washer, included on your DIY kit from Mercedes-Benz of Littleton. When replacing the drain plug, on this GLC 300, the torque is 30 newton meters, refer to your manual to confirm the torque needed.
