Описание к видео Meet Amir Mehrvarz Sarshekeh, a hematologist medical oncologist with the Everett Clinic.

My name is Amir Mehrvarz. I'm a hematologist medical oncologist with the Everett Clinic. For my medical school training I went to Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. I finished my residency training in internal medicine at the University of Texas, and I completed my fellowship training in Hematology-Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. I've been involved in cancer research too. I was honored to receive the Young Investigator Award of American Society of Clinical Oncology for my research in colorectal cancer. When I was in medical school, my mother was diagnosed with incurable cancer. The loss of her profoundly inspired me to treat and fight for cancer patients. That experience has certainly added a different layer to my interactions with patients. And I believe that has prepared me well to care for my patients. When I meet with patients, I want to know who they are and what values are most important to them. Cancer treatment has to be individualized and unique for each patient. I decided to come to the Everett Clinic to practice oncology because I believe that in this place we offer a wide variety of medical expertise. We work together closely as a team to customize a care plan for each patient, and I'm very fortunate to be part of it.
