Charlie Kunz and Teddy Brown - Rare film from 1935

Описание к видео Charlie Kunz and Teddy Brown - Rare film from 1935

Here is a rare short film from 1935 featuring Charlie Kunz and his band with guest star Teddy Brown. This is part of a series of 9.5 mm sound films that Pathescope Ltd released in 1938 for the 'home movie' market.

Sorry about the poor quality of the film (and the soundtrack). The original soundtrack was out of sync - I have tried to correct this and even though it still isn't perfectly synchronised, it is much better than it was.

The film has a charming amateurish look to it, though to be fair the budget constraints would have curtailed a lavish Hollywood production! Poor old Teddy Brown looks like he's waiting for a bus in-between his percussive peregrinations up and down the xylophone, though I do like the brief second or two when he turns towards the band and starts to move his body in rhythmic sympathy with the music - at 9:47 - that must have set the joint (and joists) jumping!

Vocalist George Barclay must surely be related to the late Sir Robin Day - the similarity is uncanny! I like his singing very much (Barclay's I mean!).

How many tunes can you name?
