Supporting naval operations from the start: A tribute to the U.S. Navy's 248th birthday

Established in 1960 as the Defense Communications Agency, our organization's origins trace back to the Naval Pacific engagements of World War II. We have been present in some of the most critical moments in the U.S. Navy's history.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis, when the world stood on the brink of mutual annihilation, DCA provided secure and reliable communications between Washington and Moscow. Our support was crucial to ensure accurate information reached the right people at the right time.

After the First Gulf War, we transformed into DISA, but our commitment to the Navy remained unshaken. DISA has supported all joint enterprises, including continued access to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in 2019.

At DISA, our mission is to support the warfighter in everything we do, and we are immensely proud to wish the U.S. Navy a Happy 248th Birthday!
