Meghalaya: Newly appointed DGP stresses new approaches to cases of crime against women and children

Idashisha Nongrang who was sworn in as the new Director General of Police of Meghalaya on May 20 said that police will have to rethink and relook at the matter of crime against women and children in the state. She also vowed to take extreme measures against cops indulging in extortion along the National Highways. The top cop was speaking at a press conference after being appointed as the state’s DGP.

Nongrang, a 1992 batch IPS officer, previously served as the Director General (DG) of Civil Defence and Home Guard before taking over as the state’s first woman Director General of Police.
