When a crime hits the headlines, a light is shone on the perpetrator, their victim, and sometimes even the surrounding community. The actions of the criminal, and the suffering of their accuser all receive publicity ensuring the world knows their story. What isn't so readily known is how all that publicity affects the perpetrator's family, and the forgotten victims of crime that it creates. Michelle Raymond shares her story of being married to a man accused of some of the most heinous crimes imaginable, and how she became an indirect victim of his crimes through publicity and stigma. Michelle has moved past the shame she felt for so long to become a successful entrepreneur with a supportive family and in his moving talk, shares the importance of extending compassion to all of the victims of a crime. Michelle Raymond is the founder and director of The People’s Partner.
Although Michelle has a strong background in HR, her other passion is people empowerment and business networking which has led her to take on more mentoring roles. Aside from HR, personal development coaching and business building, Michelle is a singer, performing for the likes of Madonna, Tina Turner and even the Pope. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
