This reduction can''t really be explained nor understood until now. Probably Reger integrally adopted Straubes advice for removal of those pages. If Straube gave his advice on request by Reger or on personal initiative is unknown. Maybe the publishers wishes played a role in this bitter mistake.

Please enjoy among other things the incredible Debussy-like symbolist "Stimmungszauber" (mood magic) in this late work (1914-1916) by Reger. Reger was influenced by Debussy in some of his works, they shared anti-Wagnerism but adopted much of that style. As one of the very few non-german speaking composers Reger appreciated, he performed a work of his (Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune) once as a conductor with the Meiningen orchestra, in 1913.
The organ being an ideal vehicle for this symbolist mood magic is preserved barely changed despite its move from Rotterdam to Doesburg.
