As we age balance is often a limiting factor in mobility training. To increase mobility you need to be able to reach, step or lunge through a greater amplitude of movement. The further you reach, step or lunge the more balance you need. As a result limitations in balance will lead to short amplitudes of reaching, stepping or lunging.

Using the wall as a 3 point of contact helps reduce balance issues and in turn helps improve mobility.

Here is a simple wall mobility series of exercise to test out this theory and start improving your mobility.
