Belize locals tell me their stories

Belizean locals are some of the warmest and most open-minded people you can meet. Here, I hang out with Belize locals in San Ignacio to understand them more.

Most Belize videos on Youtube can be only about the jungle or the snorkeling, and not enough about the people. I hope I scratched the surface on the topic. Enjoy. (Travel Documentary, 2022)


In This Video:

-Eva's. One of the newest and swankiest spots in San Ignacio. Often open late and are reliable for late night ice cold Belikin cravings. Here I try local rum and local Belizean beer while chatting with the locals.

-Riverside party. I came to San Ignacio on a good Friday. Being very religious, Belizeans go crazy during the Easter Weekend. This river party was the Easter celebration. Here, I got to dip my toes in the Macal river, enjoyed local artists perform, and of course, danced a bunch. There were plenty of vendors serving various foods and Belikin.

-I spoke to an expat from Uzbekistan, who moved to Belize and runs an Air B&B joint called Mana Kai Camping & Cabins. She opened up about pros and cons of living in Belize from an outsider's perspective.

-I ran into yet another expat from Canada. She moved to Belize with her husband and now is in salsa business. She also runs Wish Willy River Cabanas in San Ignacio.

-The British and Guatemala have been historically tied to Belize. Their relationship is a contentious issue, depending on who you talk to. I asked around people's opinions on the matter.
