Looking for some iconic Washington?

Welcome back for episode twenty-seven (27) of Onsite with me Matt Cheney. Today we are visiting a classic DC neighborhood, Georgetown, to trace the steps of one of its most famous couples, John F. and Jaqueline Kennedy.

Let’s start off today’s tour with none other than Martin’s Tavern. Family owned and operated since 1933 and having served every president from Truman to Bush II. This Georgetown institution is home to the “Proposal Booth” were John proposed to Jackie.

Next on our tour is 3260 N Street. JFK lived here from 1951-1953 while he was running for the US Senate and when met Jackie. He met Jackie at a dinner party just up the hill at a home on Q Street.

Here we have 3307 N Street. The Kennedys lived here from 1957-1961 during Jack’s 1960 presidential campaign and from which they went to his 1961 inauguration.

Now for some real estate, One Hundred Forty-Eight (148) homes and townhomes sold here this past year for an average sales price of $2,168,380 and with an average of thirty-eight (38) days on the market.

The second highest of all those sales was for this 12,000 sf classic red-brick city-estate with seven (7) bedrooms, seven (7) full and one (1) half bath home on a 14,346 sf lot, which had been extensively renovated by Under Armour’s Kevin Plank who sold it for $17,250,000.

Now for Condos and Co-Ops. There were eighty-six (86) units to trade this past year for an average sales price of $853K with an average of thirty-eight (38) days on the market.

The highest condo sale for this past year for Georgetown was for a 4,000 sf, four (4) bed, four (4) full and one (1) bath unit, penthouse here in the ultra-private seven (7) unit 1055 High condo building. The flat sold for $1,250 psf at $5,100,000.

Thank you for joining us today for episode twenty-four (27) of Onsite with Matt Cheney. Be well. Stay well. And as always like, comment, and subscribe.
