On 21 June 2024, Paula Gaviria Betancur, Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons, presented her report to the Human Rights Council at its 56th session in Geneva, Switzerland.

In the report, the Special Rapporteur updated the Council on activities undertaken in fulfilment of her mandate and presented a thematic study on the planned relocation of people in the context of disasters and the adverse effects of climate change.
