This video - THE HILL TRAIN – NORTH CACHAR ,ASSAM (INDIA) PART 2
This part shows about various bridges , how a collapsed bridge was restored in the midst of forest, the gradually diminishing M G Rail system & latest status .
The North Cachar Hills is in Dima Hasao District of Assam India . This region is full of natural scenic beauty but not without the difficult life of the people living here . Undulating hills with dense forest, rivers etc. More than 100 years before the Britishers constructed a Railway system in order to connect to Sea port in Chittagong ,Now Bangladesh to transport India Tea ,coal ,petroleum etc. to Britain .
In independent India, Indian Railways constantly had to face many difficulties in running the trains here and transport Goods and local people due to Natural calamities, Terrorism , difficult terrain etc.
All this has been prompting me to make a video story or small documentary for this part of Indian Railways. After doing lot of ground work, research, video/photo shoots etc. finally I have been able to make it . Since there has been a major change in scenario due to Gauge conversion, this old Meter Gauge Railway will get gradually erased from the physical and mental existence among the people travelled or living in this region. This video in a way shall retain its memories of train running , its assets & of course my second mother, Indian Railways . I pay my tribute to all the people who were associated with this part of Indian Railways . I also acknowledge with huge thanks the people who have helped me in making this video.
A beautiful tour on board the more than 100 old M G Railways . Being historical subject I have made in two parts 1 & 2 . Please watch with family and friends as there is much more to see and experience in this remote part of region of Assam . In this video I have talked in hindi in detail . You will enjoy the video.
