Montado: Regenerative Silvopastoral System in Portugal

The Montado is as ancient as it is little understood. The sustainability of an ecosystem is the threshold, the limbo and the limit before a culture of destruction, as human agricultural culture has been. The montado is an example of this, of this limit necessary for the survival of life, kept to an extreme.
The plan of the visionary Alfredo Sendim from Herdade Freixo do Meio is to extend the montado to the forest, to integrate wildlife and to try to get out of this limbo that reduces sustainability and create Mediterranean forest for times to come.
This film is a short but intense lesson in Mediterranean ecology and agroecology with the capacity to change views of the landscape we inhabit.
