Touhou 5: Mystic Square Yuuka Lunatic Perfect 1CC [LNN No Miss No Bombs]

The beautiful artwork in the thumbnail was done by Barudo! It was commissioned specifically for this video. I couldn't think of anyone better for the job, than a fellow mega enjoyer of all things Mystic Square.

After grinding for months, I got the run and I couldn't be happier. An LNN in my favorite Touhou game as one of my favorite Touhou characters. And it's apparently a world's first, so this is also for any fellow Yuuka enjoyers.

On a related note, being a Yuuka fan is the sole reason why I picked her. The world's first is a nice bonus, but I was mainly after the Yuuka LNN. Yuuka being the worst shot in the game did little to deter me, she sucks but it's not comparable to the bad shots you see in windows era (DDC especially). Yuuka has a couple redeeming factors, the most notable is a lot of RNG spam sections are made much easier if not free. The ice shard enemy things at the end of stage 2, the stage 5 opener, and stage 5 ending spam are all much easier as Yuuka. Due to her being able to hit most enemies on screen, and low health enemies you typically see during spam negating her terrible DPS, you could argue she's more consistent of a shot than Mima due to being less influenced by bad RNG.
But alas, she's the worst shot in the game for a reason. The biggest by far is her god awful performance against Yumeko red and blue spam. Shot range is thrown out the window because you time these patterns out. All that's left is Yuuka's sluggish movement speed to make her easily the worst performing shot against Yumeko. Stage 4 also becomes needlessly annoying, as her damage output struggles to deal with the abundant "pinwheel" enemies as I call them. Pinwheels often spawn on opposite sides of the screen, too, which Yuuka struggles to reach thanks to her move speed. In particular, I've dubbed the section at 13:58-14:17 "The Pinwheel Massacre". This is thanks to Yuuka needing to make a really stupid dodge at the end of it to avoid the pinwheels that spawn from the bottom of the screen, while also lining yourself up somewhat precisely to make sure the ones on your side are unalived before they can shoot. Having to survive every boss pattern for longer also does not help at all.

TL;DR: Yuuka is really terrible.

I should also make it clear that I am fully aware of Mystic Square being an easier Touhou game, as well as the fact that I am not a very great Touhou player. A lot of my dodges were terrible to be frank, and given the amount of close calls during the Shinki fight, I wouldn't argue if you claimed this was nothing more than a fluke. I do not want to pass this off as anything more, or pretend this run is more impressive than it is. I am proud of myself but I've got a long way before I'm worthy of sitting at the same lunch table as actual supes.

My previous PB was from just over a week ago, and it was a 1 miss to Shinki's final. That run was really heartbreaking and caused a ton of motivation issues. Someone likened it to a lunatic 1MNBNT in Ten Desires to NDS, which seems pretty accurate.
