Live Edge Sign on the CNC

Описание к видео Live Edge Sign on the CNC

I made these signs for a friend on my 30" LongMill MK1. A fun project but that came with some lessons learned:

1. The problems I experienced with the initial epoxy pour where my own fault at not mixing the correct hardener ratio. Clearing out this mistake once will be a lifetime long lesson
2. Using the ¼" upcut bit was not correct. It left lots of sanding to be completed from bit trails that were left. A ¼" downcut bit would have had the same efficiency but with much less sanding in the end
3. When choosing a piece of wood for your sign, shoot for no knots, certainly not large ones that you need to fill. I was stuck with this wood so had to invest the hours it took to fill the holes.

The fun things that happened that were not included in the video where getting my router stuck in the wood during surfacing and burning it out. Also clogging up my dust collection pipe with the spaghetti mess that that upcut bit created. Dust collection works much better without clogs!!!
