Monopoly (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Parker Brothers' 1992 board game adaptation for the Sega Genesis, Monopoly.

Parker Brothers and Sculptured Software were really on a roll when it came to these games in the early nineties. The Genesis Monopoly game seems to be a direct port of the Super Nintendo game, which was based on the first-released NES version. The NES version also showed up on the Game Boy, and again years later, on the Game Boy Color.

Why so many games, though?

Well, it seems that people absolutely loved the translation to a video game. The graphics, with all of the animated player pieces and draw cards, do a great job of bringing a static boardgame to life, and all of the voice samples and digitized sound effects make it a lot flashier and engaging than you'd expect from a 1992 board game adaptation.

And just like in all the other versions, if you're alone you can play against the AI, and there will never be any arguments about who is going to be banker or who is going to clean up, since... well, it's a video game. It does it all for you. Duh.

The Genesis version is yet another huge success for Monopoly. If you love the board game, you'll have a lot of fun with this.
