Amani was nominated by Brain Tumour Research to be a Batonbearer for the Queen's Baton Relay as part of the lead up to the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. This was in recognition for her work in campaigning & raising awareness about brain cancer generally & the lack of investment into brain cancer research specifically.

Sadly, Amani is no longer with us to be able to carry the Baton herself. So her younger sister, Maleehah, has stepped in to fulfill this honour in memory of Amani. (Only 1 person was allowed to partake so Ruqayyah passed the honour to her younger sister.)

For her GCSE English Speaking exam Maleehah spoke about Amani and her battle with brain cancer. We thought it would be nice to share this speech with you today. It gives an exclusive insight into how this journey has also affected Amani's sisters.

Maleehah will be carrying the Baton on Friday 8th July at Wardown Park. Her 200m section is at approximately 5pm. Please come down and join us to cheer her along in memory of our beautiful baby girl, Amani.
