United Trip Report flying from Los Angeles to Newark, on the United Polaris class, onboard one of the United Boeing 757, on a "lovely" morning for flying.
A very comfortable flight onboard the United Polaris Boeing 757-200W from Los Angeles to Newark. As a special thing on this flight, a dog was seated next to me. It stayed there all the way across the States. Very well-educated and just looking for some petting during the trip. We'll see some of his reactions in the video!
It was a very rainy morning in Los Angeles, but far from making the experience bad, it just made it even more interesting. At the moment of taxiing and taking off the amount of water was just insane. It was really amazing to depart under those clouds and climb through them over Los Angeles. We encountered more and more rain inside the clouds, together with some pretty nasty turbulence. It was amazing to listen to the roar of the B757 engines at maximum thrust fighting the weather. Just enjoy it by yourself!
After departure, we climbed over Los Angeles, quickly made a left, and started our route towards Newark, on the east coast. We flew initially over the San Bernardino mountains, before setting course towards Las Vegas. From there the clouds almost disappear until reaching Denver. We could see some really amazing landscapes of Nevada and Utah. Lots of reefs, cliffs, canyons, mesas... as I said many times, this is definitely one of the most beautiful parts on Earth.
We crossed the Rocky Mountains, which were mainly covered by snow, and entered the flat part of the United States, flying over Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. From there we flew towards Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and, finally, New York. We landed ahead of the schedule after a beautiful approach to Newark Airport with perfect views of Manhattan.
Regarding the onboard service, the main meal served was breakfast. There were 3 options and pre-ordering through the app was available from 5 days before the flight. I decided to take the egg and spinach quiche with tomato sauce and sausages. It came with fresh fruit, a croissant with butter and marmalade, and strawberry yogurt. Everything was fantastic and the 2 cabin crew assigned to the Polaris cabin were extremely polite at all times. The cabin felt really spacious even though it was a single-aisle plane. The seats were fully reclinable, up to 180°, and although they were a little thin on the foot side, they were perfect for a 5h flight like this one.
1h before landing, the crew offered a cold snack. I picked the fruit and cheese plate, although I only ate the fruit as I was still full from breakfast. It's a very nice touch that the snack is not just some packed biscuits or crisps. Although it wasn't warm, this was a proper snack.
All in all, a really nice first experience in the United Polaris class. When adding that the plane was a Boeing 757 that makes the perfect trip. I know the Polaris of the B757 is the worst among the United fleet... But I prefer to fly in such an emblematic plane and get a slightly worse seat.
