Visit us at: https://www.SoFloSportsRehab.com When it comes to weakness, groin pain, power, and performance, or even knee pain, having a very strong thigh and hip is essential. This includes the hamstrings, adductors, quads, and hips. Most people who exercise tend to neglect the hamstrings and adductors while focusing on the quads. Over time, this can lead to great muscle imbalances that will cause global weakness in the entire body.

When these thigh muscles are not strong, it can lead to postural distortion within the hips, pelvis, lower back, and knees. The adductors and hamstring muscles play a huge role in the stability and placement of the knee and if you are not strong here, it can lead to early weakness, failure, and pain in the knee. We have to really remember and appreciate the fact that these muscles attach to the surrounding structures of the knee and become deep fascial connections that support the knee actively and passively.

For this reason, it is imperative that we strengthen the thigh and leg to help support the knee. If you do not have good strength within these areas you could also compensate by having an overactive calf muscle which can also cause pain and discomfort-into the leg. Over time, you can gain an increase in tenderness within the leg, spasms, and cramps, and it can lead to an overuse injury of the leg. As we mentioned earlier, the thigh muscles are very important and it is very important that you strengthen and rehabilitate them properly.

These exercises in this video are known as isometric exercises to help support the hamstring and adductor muscle groups within the thigh. These exercises help to isolate the thigh muscles but you must stay active through the foot. This gives the leg muscles some work but the majority of the strengthening occurs within the thigh.
