Final Fight CD (Sega CD) Playthrough [Double Impact OST mod]

Описание к видео Final Fight CD (Sega CD) Playthrough [Double Impact OST mod]

A playthrough of Sega's 1993 beat 'em up game for the Sega CD, Final Fight CD.

Played through on the normal difficulty level as Cody.

Final Fight CD (   • Final Fight CD (Sega CD) Playthrough ...  ) is widely considered to be one of the best games ever released for the Sega CD, and rightfully so. Sega did a fantastic job on the conversion. But as much as I loved the game, I can't say that I was ever particularly enamored with its soundtrack. The remixed tracks were good, but I never felt that their style was a good match for the action. I preferred the original arcade game's harsh FM sound.

In 2010, Capcom released Final Fight: Double Impact for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that version featured a brand new set of remixes. I thought that the booming bass, the screaming guitars and analog synths, and the super processed, super dirty trash can drums suited the tone of the game far better than Sega's jazzy rock tunes did, and I like these just as much, if not more, than the arcade tunes.

(Especially the Andore cage match and Bay Area themes! So awesome and in your face!)

Nine years ago, I posted a video of the Sega CD game using the remixes from Double Impact, but since that video was only 480p, I thought it was time to do an improved, updated version.

Instead of merely editing the music into the video, to pull this off, I've modded the game by replacing all of Final Fight CD's in-game Redbook audio tracks with brand new ones based on edited versions of Double Impact's tracks.

I edited and looped the songs so that they sync with the onscreen action, and because I preserved the original structure and layout of the disc data, all of the transitions and fades work the way they should.

For the intro and ending cutscenes, I used AI to isolate the dialog from the music in the original Sega CD tracks, filtered the spoken lines to minimize the warbling and distortion that resulted from the process, and then mixed the isolated speech tracks into the new Double Impact music. I think it turned out pretty well!

The first time I did something like this, many people asked for the custom disc image, but because I had mindlessly deleted it after recording my video, I wasn't able to oblige. I was more careful this time, so if you like what you hear in this video and would like to play it this way, then go ahead and grab this file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KLxa...

The zip archive contains the uncompressed replacement tracks (44.1Khz 16-bit stereo PCM in .bin format) and a readme that explains how to use them. The mod will work on both real hardware (CD and ODE) and emulators.
