Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 Firmware Updates on Gigabyte TRX40 Designare Motherboard

Answering Subscriber Questions - Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 Firmware Updates.

We successfully updated the Firmware on 3 Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 Rev 1 PCIe cards on the Gigabyte TRX40 Designare Motherboard.

1st card included with Motherboard. Other 2 cards are Retail. All 3 are Rev 1 cards. Updating Firmware to v50.

Step 1 - Roll back drivers on Titan Ridge Card to the default version (The firmware upgrade will fail otherwise...) So uninstall your modern drivers and select delete when you uninstall it in device manager. Driver on CD version: 1‎.41.648.5. Required: 1‎.41.648.4.
Step 2 - Update firmware on Titan Ridge Rev 1 card to v50, the newest.
This much gets the Thunderbolt card working in any slot and without shutdown and sleep hang/freeze issues.
Step 3 - Reinstall the newest drivers from Intel. - This we did NOT do!
Step 4 - Increase the following two settings to 256MB.
Memory Allocation per port (MB) = 256
Prefetch Memory allocation per port (MB) = 256

The updated firmware allowed Titan Ridge card to work in any slot without sleep and shutdown hangs / freezes. But it still hung with KONA 3G capture card.

By increasing settings in BIOS Titan Ridge Thunderbolt Rev 1 card finally would allow sleep and shutdown to proceed without a freeze or hang.

For good measure I enabled 4g decoding set at 40 bits.

PCI-e Slot #1 - EVGA Geforce 2080 ti
PCI-e Slot #2 - Titan Ridge Thunderbolt card.
PCI-e Slot #3 - 1x MOTU PCI-e Audio Interface card
PCI-e Slot #4 - 16x card slot currently reserved for the included M.2 host card
PCI-e Slot #5 - KONA 3G Video Capture card.
