日本三大祭りのひとつである京都の祇園祭。
前祭と後祭の宵山の賑わいを１本の動画にまとめてみました。

[Gion Festival]
Gion Matsuri (Gion Festival) is one of Japan's 3 Greatest Festivals. Originally held to pray for deliverance from plague, the festival has evolved into a huge celebration of Kyoto culture. It’s also a huge summer block party in which locals and visitors gather to promenade in colorful yukata robes and gorge themselves on street food and beer. The main events are two processions of traditional parade floats, held on 17 July and 24 July.

[Yoi-yama]
The three evenings leading up the main Gion Matsuri parade are known as Yoiyoiyoi-yama, Yoiyoi-yama and Yoi-yama (that’s one “yoi” for the number of days until the festival). On these evenings, the yamaboko (parade floats) that will appear in the festival are displayed in Shijo Street and on nearby downtown streets. The streets are closed to vehicle traffic and citizens and visitors stroll the streets, many dressed in yukata (lightweight summer robes). Street stalls sell food and drink and the atmosphere is fun and festive.
