Soo Line, cab ride over Mississippi river at Sabula, IA, 1995

Описание к видео Soo Line, cab ride over Mississippi river at Sabula, IA, 1995

An in-cab video (January 19, 1995) of Canadian Pacific (Soo Line) train 228 East. Recording begins with the freight train northbound (geographically) on a cold, snowy day a few miles south of Sabula, Iowa on the former Milwaukee Road tracks on the west bank (Iowa side) of the Mississippi river. That banging noise heard at times is the engineer's windshield wiper that was a tad out of adjustment and consequently the wiper blade was striking the window frame rubber gasket. Train was powered by two Electro Motive SD-40 diesel-electric locomotives with the CP 751 as the lead unit. Crew members were conductor, Tom Meirhoff and engineer, George Brinson. I, the individual making the recording, was taking a familiarization trip from Chicago (Bensenville, IL) to Davenport, IA and back as I had recently qualified to be a conductor on the Soo. The Soo's swing span railroad bridge crosses the Mississippi river between Sabula, Iowa and Savanna, Illinois.
