The video is from a VHS tape taken by Steve Kopacz - he videoed trains, East and North of St Paul as well as at the BN Northtown Yard in Minneapolis in 1987.
Former member Steve Kopacz (1955 to 2024) was an avid rail fan and model railroader
Steve traveled regularly around the United States and took many photographs and videos.
This video is from a series of videos made from Steve's VHS tapes which are part of the Greg Smith collection.

The Twin City Model Railroad Museum has many of different types of trains, buildings and other models – of all sizes.

This video starts with the smallest Scales located in the Minne-sota Gallery of the Museum and goes up.
The first trains are N Scale - 1/160 th of the real ones and continues to O Scale and Lionel Standard Gauge at 1/32nd.


There are many different model: gauges, scales and sizes - including:
O Scale - the internationally renowned O Scale layout - 1/48th
G - Garden – about 1/24th
Standard Gauge -1/32nd
O Scale – 1/48th - Lionel Trains
LEGO Gauge - approx. 1/55th
S Scale – 1/64th – American Flyer Trains
OO Scale 1/72nd
HO Scale – 1/87th
OOO Scale - 1/152nd
N Scale 1/ 160th
Z scale – 1/220th.
Toy trains are also represented from different manufacturers including:
Lionel,
American Flyer,
Märklin
Marx
Hornby
and others

There are also exhibits that show the various scales side by side - for comparision - inlcuding the International Train Display at the rear of the Museum.

The Children's Area has many different layouts for the girls and boys to operate as well as work tables where they can create and build models and run wooden trains. There is a LEGO Work Area and Thomas the Tank Trains to run as well.

Former Milwaukee Road SD-40-2 (in the Hiawatha paint scheme) / pool power MKT - Missouri Kansas Texas SD-40-2

Soo Line main line in New Brighton North of the Twin Cities - where it crosses the former Minnesota Transfer ( now Minnesota Commercial )
Leased Western Pacific GP-40 / Former Milwaukee Road GP-40 with an Eastbound freight train - stops gets a green signal and then proceeds across the diamond of the Minnesota Transfer


Minnesota Transfer SW-1500 switches cars in the New Brighton yard near a power pole preparation facility

BN - Northtown yard ( former Northern Pacific )

BN SD-40-2 / SD-40-2 / B-30B / GP-38 locomotives prepare to take a freight train Eastbound
BN SD-9 with finished wood on bulkhead flats doing a switch run to lumber yards in Minneapolis
General Motors EMD Oakway Leasing SD-60 / SD-60 with and empty coal train coming from Midwest Energy in Duluth -heading back to Wyoming for more coal
The train will head West from the Twin Cities to Willmar - South to Sioux City and then on to Lincoln Nebraska where it will head West to Wyoming to the coal mine
