Ectopic Pregnancy | Sites of Implantations | Risk Factors | Nursing Lecture

Ectopic pregnancy, in which the fertilized ovum is implanted outside the normal endometrial cavity, and the most common site for implantation is the tube.

Sites of Implantation -
1. Tubal Pregnancy (95%)
- Ampulla
- Isthmus
- Infundibulum
- Interstitial

2. Others (5%)
- Cervical
- Cesarean Scar
- Ovarian
- Cornual
- Abdominal

Risk Factors -

1 PID (Pelvic inflammatory disease) (STD -Sexually transmitted diseases)
2 Salpingitis isthmica nodosa
3 H/o Previous ectopic pregnancy
4 H/o Previous tubal surgery
5 Contraceptive failure
6 H/o Infertility (IVF- ET)

Outcomes of tubal pregnancy -
-Tubal Abortion
-Tubal Rupture
