Ectopic Pregnancy signs and symptoms | Diagnosis | Nursing lecture

Ectopic Pregnancy is that in which the implantation took place somewhere else outside the normal endometrial cavity.

#Signs_and_Symptoms_of_Ectopic_Preganacy -
Classic triad
1 Amenorrhoea
2 Abdominal pain
3 Vaginal bleeding

Others include-
Check vitals to rule out hypotension, tachycardia, and pallor, the features of shock.

Per abdominal examination -
Bluish discoloration around umbilicus- Cullen's sign
Tense, tender, and rigid abdomen.
Muscle guarding could be present.

Bimanual examination-
- Uterus normal in size
- Cervical motion tenderness
- Boggy felt through the posterolateral fornix
- Adnexal mass palpable
- Vaginal mucosa blanched

#Diagnosis_of_Ectopic_Preganacy -
1. Beta hCG
2. TVS

Others include-
1. Laparotomy
2. Laparoscopy
3. Dilatation and curettage
4. Serum progesterone
5. Culdocentesis
