いくつものリアリティが交差する、まだ見ぬSF演劇

舞台はある国が消滅したあとの世界。文化を残すというミッションを掲げ、宇宙船イン・ビトゥイーン号に、4人の乗組員と1体のアンドロイドが乗り込んだ。銀河を漂う船内では、それぞれの思い出を振り返る対話が“ある言語”で繰り広げられる——。
チェルフィッチュ主宰の岡田利規は、日本語を母語としない俳優が、発音や文法が「正しくない」という理由で、演技力を評価されない日本演劇のありように着目する。2021年には、演劇における日本語の可能性をひらくことを目指し、ノン・ネイティブ日本語話者との協働プロジェクトを始動。本作はその一環として行われたワークショップやトークイベント、オーディションを経て選出した俳優とともにつくり上げられた。
言語の定義とは？　文化や社会、政治と結びつく言語の純粋性は可能か？　多彩な背景をもつ俳優が日本語で演じる姿に、私たちは自問するだろう。チェルフィッチュ最新作の関西初上演をお見逃しなく。

A brand-new Sci-Fi play where multiple realities intersect

Set in a world where a country has vanished, four crew members and one android board the spaceship ‘In Between’ to embark on a mission to preserve their culture. While drifting across the galaxy, they recount memories together in a language.

Toshiki Okada, founder of the theater company chelfitsch, turns his attention to the state of Japanese theater, where actors whose native language is not Japanese are not appreciated due to their “incorrect” pronunciation or grammar. The company began collaborating with non-native Japanese speakers in 2021 in hopes of opening up new possibilities for the Japanese language in theater. This new piece is created with actors who were selected through workshops, talk events, and auditions held as part of that initiative.

How is language defined? Is purity possible in language that connects cultures, societies, and politics? This performance in Japanese by actors of diverse backgrounds is sure to provoke such questions. The Kansai premiere of chelfitsch’s new production is unmissable.
