Land Rover APT Discovery 3 Discovery 4 Rock slider install

Hi all, Ben Woodgate from APT. Low slung vehicles need rock solid protection. One of the ways to protect your Land Rover Discovery 3 or Discovery 4 is to fit a set of APT sliders. The APT Off Road Land Rover Discovery 3 / 4 slider design provides you with not only a step to get into your Disco but rock solid protection for your lower guard, doors and sills. New premium quality fixings are supplied in the kit so all you need are a couple of basic hand tools and you’re on your way. What do you get – 2 * laser cut precision folded 4mm Tru Spec steel slider sills; Mandrel bent 4mm 350 grade rock rails with 4 sill rail attachment points; 22 – 8mm x 30mm high tensile 12.9 rated zinc bolts with zinc washers. The APT Discovery 3 / 4 rock sliders replace the factory sills so we need to remove the sills via the 2 secret rear screws and the plastic clips. A Philips head and a flat blade are required for this, along with a bit enthusiasm. Once out of the way, give the sills a good clean. Folks, if working by yourself, use a mechanical device, it’s safer and easier. Identify the 11 threads per side and peel off any tape as necessary. The triangular inner guard retainer goes to the rear. Raise the sliders into place and slip the sill in behind the plastic sill mould and line the laser cut mounting holes up with the existing holes in the vehicle sill. Once aligned, start the 8mm bolts with washers to ensure you have a stable position. For safety reasons, I like to start all the underside bolts first and then move to the side mounts. If the threads are dirty you might need your 5mm Alan key to get the bolts started. Remember! Keep all the bolts loose until they’re all started. At this stage we should be somewhere along the lines of looking like this. Sliders in place, all bolts started. As easy as this, we’re nearly done. With the sliders in place, nip all the bolts up first so the sliders are in full contact with the sills. Now it’s time to tighten the bolts with enough tension not to round out the bolt head but make sure they stay captive. All done!
