Aquarius Eco Ship - zero emission shipping with solar power & sail-assisted propulsion

Zero emission hybrid powered ship design concept with rigid sails & solar power. The Aquarius Eco Ship design project is an ongoing comprehensive study project focused on optimizing the design of a large ocean going ship such as a bulk carrier, tanker, RoRo vessel or cruise ship, to harness the clean power of the wind & sun using Aquarius Marine Renewable Energy or Aquarius MRE. This project was started by Eco Marine Power (EMP) in May 2011 and has attracted world-wide interest.

Other companies involved in the study include the Furukawa Battery Company and Teramoto Iron Works.

The centre piece of the Aquarius Eco Ship is Aquarius MRE - an innovative and patented fuel saving and emission reduction system that incorporates a variety of elements including #solar panels, energy storage modules, a computer control systems and am innovative advanced rigid sail design known as an EnergySail.
