Nimble, hard-hitting, and with a thrust-to-weight ratio that puts other craft in it's class to shame, the Etosha-Nydam K/F-8G Kingfisher is a common sight among mercenary groups, independent militaries, and pirate bands alike. Originally envisioned as a planetary defense fighter, the Kingfisher rose to prominence with the introduction of the carrier-based K/F-8G variant. A narrower profile, lighter power plant, and reduced maintenance requirements took a plodding (if well-regarded) fighter-bomber and reimagined it as the ideal choice in the limited conditions of a shipboard hangar.

Thanks to their loosely tuned stability and explosive acceleration capabilities, Kingfishers have earned a reputation as temperamental hot rods. Individual craft are often plagued with "personality quirks," and no two Kingfishers are said to fly alike. Kingfisher pilots take pride in this fact, claiming their ability to overcome the unpredictability of the craft is evidence of their superior skill.
