Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park | Hike to the Bottom | Colorado

Join me as I hike to the bottom at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. I did the "Gunnison Route" which is considered the "easiest" of the 6 (3 on each rim) routes to the river. The trails are not maintained and are all unmarked. Permit requited. Distance: 1.5 miles each way with a vertical drop of roughly 1800 feet. The NPS says average hikers complete this hike in 3.5 hours. I went a little slower due to the camera work and spent some extra time at the river, but I'd estimate 4.5 hours on the trail. Completed on ​October 3, 2020.
