The Diplomats (also known as Dipset) is a group of American hip hop artists formed in 1997 by childhood friends Cam'ron and Jimmy Jones in Harlem, New York. The original members were Cam'ron, Jim Jones, and Freekey Zekey, who all grew up together in Harlem. In 1999, another rapper from Harlem, Juelz Santana, joined the group. In 2001, after Cam'ron signed a deal, the group got a recording contract with Roc-A-Fella Records. They then started recording their first album, Diplomatic Immunity, and released it in March 2003 under those labels. Because of issues between Cam'ron and Jay-Z, the group left Roc-A-Fella and signed with the independent label Koch Records.
