Bengal is famous for her clay idols and idol decorations. This video is about those artisans, who adds most of the glitter and glamour to our idols, through various decorative ornaments. The tireless and patient effort of these artisans, help to decorate and beautify countless idols, across India and abroad. Amidst all the celebrations, while being astounded by the beauty of the idols, we generally forget about the contributions of these artisans. These artisans are not called by any separate name. However, some refer to these artisans as ‘Paal', same as that of an clay idol artisan. These artisans create different types and forms of decorative items, for the idols. Watch this video to find out how much effort is required and in what process these decorations are crafted.

We visited the workshop of two ‘Paals’, one in Naihati (North 24 Parganas District) and the other in Kalyani (Nadia District), over a course of three days. Details of them are as follows:
