cover discussions - Tom Groholski

Tom met us at the abandoned Stone Edge Skatepark near his home in Florida. Just a year earlier he'd been inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame and he's been my favorite skater since the late eighties. His dad actually shot his Thrasher cover and it was Glen Friedman who suggested Tom send in the photos to Thrasher. Both the Thrasher cover and the doubles cover with Chuck Treece were shot by Bob Groholski on their backyard ramp. Kona put out a magazine in the early 80's callled "Skateboard". The December 1987 Transworld cover was shot by Tod Swank on a ramp in Little Rock, AR. Tom traveled to Italy to skate a demo with Buck Smith and Mike McGill and ended up on the cover of a local mag called SKATE SNOW BOARD. Tom's recent Juice cover was shot by Henry Ford at a pipe in Pennsylvania back in the early 2000's. Geoff Graham put out a Groholski tribute zine - the cover being on the blue ramp in New Jersey. And finally we show you a little of the zine Tom made as a THANK YOU to the Skateboarding Hall of Fame. Shout out to Cherry Hill Skatepark, Brad Bowman, and Chuck Treece. April 2023.
